Education equity for young women

The Road to 120 is a 501 (c)(3) dedicated to supporting the YW Brooklyn LEAD Program and the young women who have completed the program.

Students of color are disproportionately enrolled in schools without access to quality resources, credentialed teachers, rigorous course offerings, and extracurricular activities.

about us

The Road to 120,Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization providing enhanced  support to the YW Brooklyn LEAD Program and its young women students.

The Road to 120

our support

We work to improve the future of young women living in poverty-impacted communities by  providing grants, not available by more traditional sources, for essentials related to college attendance.

The Road to 120

success stories

100% of the young women who have graduated from the YW Brooklyn LEAD Program have either been accepted to, are attending, or have graduated on-time from four-year colleges with over a million dollars financial aid granted.

leveling the playing field

In NYC, the number of black students living in poverty-impacted areas is almost triple that of white students. Because of the lack of support for their communities, Black students are 5 times as likely to attend low resourced high schools. Our mission is to provide young women students of color in Brooklyn  access to the same resources as more affluent students to close the achievement gap through education equity.

YW Brooklyn LEAD gave me a place to forget about my problems and focus on my future. The people here gave me a sense of urgency about going out to get what I want in life. And that’s what I’m doing.

-YW Brooklyn LEAD Graduate

"I would not have been able to find the college that was perfect for me without the guidance of the YWCA Brooklyn. The staff made the college application process so much easier to navigate.  The YWCA has taught me to accept both compliments and criticism graciously, knowing that it takes both  to grow into a strong, confident, outspoken young woman.”

-Jasmyn Murray, YWCA Brooklyn LEAD Graduate

"If it weren't YWCA I wouldn't be where I am standing today. From SAT prep to helping with my college essays, there is so much they have helped and guided me through. This all ultimately helped me to realize, college, my life, my story is not as scary as I thought. I may not know how the story ends, but I'm enjoying the adventure."
